Message from Your Proud Principal

I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday week filled with many wonderful family memories. For me, it was such a blessing to have both of my kids home and all of us under one roof. We decorated for the holiday season, watched several movies, and RELAXED! It was just what my mom heart needed.

The next few weeks are filled with many holiday celebrations and we are excited about the "Rocking the Holiday Dress Up Challenge" to bring the joy of the season to Parsons. There is nothing like the excitement of kiddos during this time of year. Each day students and staff are encouraged to show their holiday spirit by taking part in the daily dress up. We will end the semester with our classroom Winter Holiday Parties, so be on the lookout for an email from your teacher/room parent.

As you know, we have received the results of the parent preference survey for next semester and we will have approximately 50% of our students return in person and 50% return digitally. We are pleased that we will not need to make any HUGE changes since we are implementing the concurrent model where teachers instruct "roomies and zoomies" simultaneously. If your child will be returning in person for the first time on January 7th, we have sent a Google Form for you to communicate how your child will be getting home from school.

Have a great weekend and take time to enjoy all the things during this holiday season.

Educational Equity in GCPS...We want to hear from you!

Gwinnett County Public Schools encourages you to learn more about our work in this area. You are invited to take part in an online survey that will gather feedback on proposed changes to district procedures. The survey will end January 11, 2021. Please click the link below for more information.

An interesting and revealing conversation with GCPS Chief Equity Compliance Officer, Dr. Tommy Welch

District shares 2021-22 calendar and Calendar adjustments for Spring 2021

The 2021-22 calendar features an Aug. 4 start, staggered return of students, and digital learning days. The 2nd semester changes are students return a day later (Jan. 7), and all students will learn at home on digital learning days (Jan. 26, March 2, March 16, and April 20). GCPS School Nutrition Program will provide lunches through curbside pick up on January 26, March 2, March 16, and April 20th from 11:15am to 12:30pm.

Possible After School Daycare Opportunity

GASP! Georgia After School Program, Inc. may open at Parsons ES in January, if we have enough interest. It is $55/week, open until 6:30 pm, and has stringent COVID guidelines. If you're interested, go to and click the request info link. We need 20 families to enroll in order to be able to offer this program.

"Rocking the Holidays" Dress Up Challenge

There's nothing like festive music and dress up to get you in the holiday spirit. We want all our students (Roomies and Zoomies) to participate in our "Rocking the Holidays Dress Up Challenge" that began on December 3rd. We will have 12 days of spirit. Each day of dress up is on the school calendar and we will be reminding students on the morning announcements as well. Let the fun begin!

Doing our part to stop the spread of Covid-19

Please use the COVID-19 Morning Checklist to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. Please continue to follow the guidelines each morning when sending your in person student to school. We have seen a slight increase of cases in Gwinnett and we want to make sure we are ALL doing our part.

Each school in our district has a trained Health Response Team (HRT). If a suspected case of Covid-19 is reported at our school, this team follows set guidelines and procedures. Please be assured that you will be contacted by an HRT member if your child has been identified as 'close contact' to someone in our school who has tested positive for Covid-19.

The most important thing we can do is continue to wear our masks, practice social distancing, and wash hands regularly. We are #STRONGERTOGETHER when we all do our part.
