Staff Spotlight - Crystal Shipley
Crystal grew up a Bulldog (just a blue one) and graduated from Stamford High School in 1999. She went to play basketball at Western Texas College in Snyder, TX but soon transferred to McMurry University in Abilene. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice in 2003.
Crystal moved to the Hill Country to start a family and career. She started teaching and coaching at Taylor ISD, but after a year of commuting, she found her home at Burnet CISD. Crystal coached at the middle school for one year, then taught 4th grade at RJ Richey for 8 years while her boys were small. She found her way back to coaching at BMS for five years before ending up at BHS. She has been at the high school for four years, teaching AVID 1,3 and 4. She is the head volleyball coach and head girl’s track coach.
She’s married to Steven, who coaches and teaches in Johnson City. She has two sons, Reese (17) and Calan (13) and two bonus kids (step son and daughter) Ryan (18) and Reagan (16). They all keep the family busy being involved in multiple sports and school activities.
Crystal enjoys spending time with her family and watching them do “their thing” on the court or field. She enjoys traveling and making memories with the family. She also loves supporting all her Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs! She loves her students and loves being in a position that impacts others.
