3rd Grade Rocks!
We will continue to work on our Reader's Theater play to perform at Windsor. We will also work on reading fluency and comprehension.
Unit 4, Part 2
This week we will work on some of the writing activities for our Friendship Boxes. These will come home on Friday. Remember, completed boxes with all 5 parts are due next Tuesday, December 16th.
This week we will review multiplication concepts including repeated addition, arrays, and using number lines to multiply. We will also begin to discuss properties of multiplication.
We will study animal adaptations.
We will focus on some map skills.
International Festival will be coming up quickly once we return from the holiday break. It is scheduled for January 26-30. For those of you who are new to Cedarwood, International Festival is an annual event where each grade level chooses a country to study for a week. We learn about the culture, geography, language, music, food, and much more. This year, we will be doing the country of MALTA! Yes, there is a country named Malta - most people don't know that or know that it is located in the Mediterranean Sea south of Italy. Malta is actually a country made up of 3 main islands. I have already started researching and found some great things to focus on. We are lucky that we have no food allergies in this class, so we can have a feast day one day that week. If you would like to research some popular food/recipes, I would really appreciate it. We'll be asking parents to volunteer to make a few dishes for the kids. We will also need ideas for decorating in the hall. I'm thinking we should focus on some of the amazing geographical features of the country for that - but I am open to your ideas. We will have a meeting for volunteers when we return after the Christmas break! Below are a few photos from Malta to inspire you! It's a very beautiful country that I hope to visit one day!
