Block schedule and FLEX Period
Wednesday/Thursday block schedule will begin on Wednesday, September 5. FLEX Period begins as well, but students will report to their 3rd period class on Wednesday, September 5 and their 4th period class on Thursday, September 6. During these two days, teachers will give all students a FLEX Period overview. The following week, student's can begin to make FLEX Period appointments with the teacher of their choice.
Club Rush Week
During the week of September 10, AHS clubs will have tables set up in the Rotunda during lunch to share information about their club and its activities. All students are encouraged to get involved in something that interests them!
Parent Chats
Before each monthly AHS PTSA Association meeting, AHS counselors and administrators will give a topical presentation to parents about issues around AHS. The first parent presentation is scheduled for September 13 from 6:00-6:50 in AHS Theater 50. The discussion topic will be an overview of college admissions. This presentation is directed to 12th grade parents and students; other parents are welcome, but please allow 12th grade parents to ask questions first. We hope you join us and stay for the PTSA meeting that follows at 7:00!
Spirit Week and Night Rally
Spirit Week is the Week of Oct 1st. On Thursday, October 4th will be hosting our Spirit Week Night Rally in the AHS Gym. We want to encourage parents, extended families, future Eagles, and students from other schools to come and check out each class’s Spirit Week Performance. The cost for admission will be $5 per person, at the door. American students with their ID’s are free. All money collected will be split between the Class’s participating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and performances begin at 7:00 p.m.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
AHS Back to School Night will be on Thursday, September 20. The presentation for 9th grade parents and students will be in the gym from 6:00-6:25. Classrooms will open from 6:30-8:00. Parents/guardians will need to visit classrooms in order by period.
Parents/guardians will need their student's schedule to be able to visit the classrooms in order. A schedule form along with teacher room locations and campus map will be sent to all parents via School Loop prior to Back to School Night. Staff members and ASB students will be stationed around campus to help give parents directions - don't hesitate to ask for help!
COLLEGE FAIR AT OHLONE COLLEGE
The College Fair at Ohlone College will be held Tuesday, September 25th at Ohlone Community College Gymnasium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Many colleges and universities will be represented, all grades recommended to attend. A panel of admission advisors from the University of California, California State Universities and Community Colleges will be holding an informational session during the evening.
