Bulldog Bulletin

The Smith Family News Update!

Welcome Back!

We hope everyone had a wonderful week for Spring Break! It was great to see our Bulldogs again on Monday. They came back ready to learn and have worked hard this week. We know coming to school before the sun is up can be difficult, but we are so proud of how hard everyone has worked this week! We are looking forward to a fabulous (and probably full) spring season!!

Happy 120th Day of School!

We would like your Feedback!

Many of you probably received an email earlier today from Dr. Vinson requesting your input. The culture and climate of a school campus is essential to the success of our students! Just like we monitor a student's performance academically, we want to monitor how our campus is perceived by our families. Please take time to complete this district survey by Friday, March 27. Your input is greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 972-429-2545 or kellye.morton@wylieisd.net. Thank you in advance for your feedback. We want to make sure Smith Elementary is providing the BEST educational opportunity available for our students and families.

p.s. - Just a reminder you will take the survey per school. Since I have a student at Smith and Davis, I will complete two separate surveys.

p.s.s. - Not that I am competitive (he. . .he. . ), but it would be FABULOUS if Smith had a large number of responses! Please help us out by taking 10 minutes to provide us with your feedback. I can't offer a $1000 raffle like other stores, but I can promise you these results will be used to help us grow. :) Thank you!

Smith Relay for Life Team

As many of you know, the Smith Elementary Family supports our local Relay for Life event. Our campus has a team that is growing weekly and they will be doing a variety of activities to help raise funds for Relay for Life. Although we are still coming up with ideas, below are a few ways you can support our team if you would like.

Luminaries are those glowing bags that, to the naked eye, appear to be nothing more than paper sacks filled with sand and candles. But upon closer examination they represent people, each with name and a story to tell. Each bag represents our shared vision for a future in which cancer no longer threatens people we love.

On the night of Relay for Life, May 2, your bag will help surround the walking track. During the Ceremony of Light, your bag will help symbolize the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to help fight cancer.

You can purchase them In Memory of someone who has lost their battle with cancer OR In Honor of someone who is a cancer survivor/patient. Each bag is $10 and checks can be made out to American Cancer Society or ACS. Please send your payment and we will send a luminaria home with your child with further directions.

You can also help “Stomp out Cancer” by purchasing a footprint. These are similar to the shamrocks some of the gas stations sell to raise money for St. Jude’s and such. When you purchase one of these you can write your child’s name, the name of someone who has cancer or has survived cancer, or in memory of someone who has lost their battle with cancer. These can be purchased for $1 each and will be displayed on the glass doors as you enter the building.

Your purchase will help with the fundraising efforts of our campus Relay for Life Team who will be walking on May 2 at Schaffer Stadium in Wylie/Sachse/Murphy Relay for Life event.

Thanks you, ~Smith Elementary Relay for Life Team
