October Update
"Kingston Springs Expects Success!"
Reward School 2017-2018
We are so pleased to receive the honor of being named a state of Tennessee Reward School for the 2nd year in a row! Last year's reward school status was based on our Achievement scores from the 2016-2017 TNReady test. This year's status is based on both Growth and Achievement scores from our TNReady test in the spring as well as Attendance and English Language Learner Proficiency. We are so proud of the tremendous growth that our students showed. We, along with Pegram Elementary School, received a Level 5 in growth from the previous year. Please take the time to say "Congratulations!" to both our teachers and students for this tremendous academic achievement and thank them for all of their hard work and a job well done!
THANK YOU!
Once again, we have been amazed by the generosity and commitment our parents and community have shown by supporting our annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Because of the funds that you raise during this and our Candy Bar Fundraiser 2nd semester, we are able to operate every year and provide what your students need in the classroom. Our top 10 fundraisers this year were Addyson Conatser (also top overall seller), Colin Martin, Weston Williams, Lilly Stinson, Danny Broyles, Jackson Tatum, Tenley Morris, Kinsley Herity, Cheyenne Mikush, and Caden Hagewood. They enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Dawn before turning her into a human ice cream sundae.

Scholastic Books
THANK YOU again for your generosity in sponsoring students and classes so that our students can receive a book EVERY month this school year from Scholastic. Below is a picture of Mrs. Heather Lockert's 2nd grade class and the first books they have received. This is just one of many classes at KSES that will benefit from our community's generosity.
Attendance
Did you know that students who miss 10 or more days of school are considered to be chronically absent? Good attendance is crucial to your child's success in school. We encourage you to schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school if at all possible and to schedule family trips during breaks from school. Please contact Mrs. Beth Gill, our attendance secretary, if you have any questions regarding the new Tennessee state attendance law which involves our 3 tiered system of interventions.

Pioneer Days
Thanks to Mrs. Beth Umphers and our community volunteers for making the pioneer days come alive for our first graders!
Celebration Pep Rallies
After receiving feedback from both teachers and students, we have decided to revamp our Honor's Pep Rallies to more of an actual pep rally to focus on student learning and growth. We are also shortening the time to 10-15 minutes so we lose as little classroom instruction time as possible. Grade level pep rallies will be scheduled throughout the morning and integrated within class time. Since we will not have a formal awards honors pep rally as we have in the past, we encourage parents and grandparents to attend the annual Awards Day in May to celebrate students' academic achievement for the year in a more formal ceremony in the gym.
KSES Holiday Marketplace
Since we have moved our fall carnival to the spring during the school day so that all of our students can attend and participate, we are having a KSES Holiday Marketplace on December 1 from 9 am - 3 pm. We want to encourage all of our parents and community members who have a business or are crafters to rent a booth. Please see the flyer below and ask Mrs. Dana Brown for more details.
