Academic & Scholarly Resources
Turn to these resources for academic journal articles!
What is an academic/scholarly resource?
Academic or scholarly resources are materials written by scholars or professionals in a particular field of study. These resources are often peer-reviewed, a system of internal editing that ensures accuracy and credibility of the content presented. Scholarly resources usually follow a specified format including an abstract, introduction and/or literature review, methods, results, discussion, and references/bibliography.
Google Scholar acts as a gateway to many resources that would otherwise only be found in the "invisible web." This search engine specifically targets academic articles and provides free access when available. For articles that are listed as requiring payment, please contact Ms. Wismar in the Library Media Center for assistance.
Gale's Academic OneFile is a comprehensive academic database featuring content from the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects.
DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) is a project sponsored by the Open Society Institue (OSI) that aims to provide increased visibility to open access scientific and scholarly journals.
Academic Search Premier, provided via www.iConn.org, features full-text articles for over 4,000 journals and covers all major areas of academic research.
