The Mata Memo
April 12, 2022
Principal's Message
Greetings Mata Family!
I was once again filled with hope and joy as I visited classrooms this week. I saw how teachers are tracking data and are seeing the results of the work they are doing. I saw how Montessori lessons are being presented in a systematic and strategic way to reach the needs of students. Our team is working hard to ensure that your children are learning.
As we are nearing the final stretch of the year, there will be more opportunities for you to be involved as parents. Please mark your calendars to attend the many upcoming events! To start, please don't forget to sign up for the Rainbow Run Walk and Roll sponsored by PTA! This will be one of the first schoolwide events that we've been able to host in a while. The deadline to sign up will be Friday! We will also be hosting an on-campus talent show this year at the end of the month, now is the time for your child to sign up if interested. Please see below for details!
Read the rest of the memo very carefully! There is great information!

CHECK OUT SOME WOMEN'S MONTH ACTIVITIES COMPLETED BY MS. BRADFIELD'S CLASS!
Kindergarten students wrote and illustrated a short statement about a "persistent" woman in her or his life. This was influenced by all they learned about incredible women who made a difference during International Women's Month!
Enjoy these thoughtful writings!

You may contact Ms. Han or Ms. Lira in the main office if you need assistance.
Attention 5th Grade Parents
Our 5th Grade will be taking the Science STAAR this year! In an effort to help prepare them, our campus will be sponsoring our 5th-grade students’ attendance in a Science Camp at the Dallas Arboretum.
They will attend a Closing the Gap Learning Series to help get 5th-grade students STAAR Science ready. It is a 6-week series. Each week covers a different TEKS cluster and includes a hands-on lab, STAAR practice questions, and a time to explore the garden to make garden connections. Classes are held on Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:30, starting April 2nd and runs through May 7th. Classes include parking and garden admission for your family.
Here is the link to learn more about the programming. https://www.dallasarboretum.org/education/other-programs/
Please ensure that you have returned your child's permission letter and parent contact form. It was sent home by Mr. Delgado.
2nd Grade Field Trip
Attention 3rd Grade Families!
Families of 3rd grade,
You are invited to join our zoom to view our 3rd-grade performance of “Oh the places I will go when I grow up”. In theatre class this semester, 3rd graders have learned the parts of a script and how to memorize lines. They have also learned about musical theatre and how to learn a musical theatre dance. We are putting these together in a very short showcase of one dance and a short reader's theater script in the courtyard (weather permitting). We are not allowed to have visitors on campus still, so we would like to invite you to join us on zoom! Please see below.

Third graders have permission to wear their “career day” attire to school on the day of their performance. Please note no weapons or costumes that promote violence are allowed. We encourage them to dress as who they want to be when they grow up.
If you have any questions please feel free to email Ms. Bailey at mlouis@dallasisd.org . Your homeroom teachers are not directly involved in this event so questions should be directed to the theatre teacher. I love forward to sharing this fun “introduction” to musical theatre with our 3rd grade families!
