Respiratory System
Learn About It Today!
Structures of the Respiratory System.
3 Major Parts:
- The airway
- The lungs
- The muscles of respiration
Importance of the Respiratory System
- It brings oxygen into our body to help our cells live and function properly
- Helps us get rid of Carbon Dioxide, which is a waste product of cellular function.
How do you relate the body's use of nutrients to the Respiratory System?
The Respiratory System has parts of the immune system in it. It is called balt-bronchial associated lymphoid tissue. There are also cells in the lining of the lung that "sample" the air for virus and bacteria. These cells communicate with the immune system to eventually make antibodies that can then circulate within the body to protect from infections.
