Mark Your Calendar Graduation Ceremony Scheduled for August 2, 2020
PLCS is still hoping to have a face to face graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020. That ceremony is now scheduled for August 2, 2020 at the Ralston Arena. We had a date scheduled in July and the Governor released that no in person graduation ceremonies would be allowed until August. Therefore, we moved our date to August 2 in hopes that we can hold a face to face ceremony for our seniors. Baxter arena was not available, so we moved the location to Ralston Arena. PLHS graduation is at 1:00 and PLSHS graduation is at 5:00. We hope to know early in July if this ceremony will be allowed for health reasons or not.
What is a Virtual Graduation?
The Virtual Graduation is a special online graduation ceremony designed special for the Class of 2020 Monarchs and Titans! Graduates put on your cap and gown and get comfortable with your own family to watch the ceremony on Facebook or YouTube.
How do I watch the virtual Honors Night or Graduation?
Both Honors Night and Graduation will be posted on the high schools’ Facebook page and YouTube channel.
On Facebook, the ceremonies will be posted as a premiere video and will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony.
- PLHS Graduation – 12:45
- PLSHS Graduation - 4:45
- PLHS & PLSHS Honors Night – 5:45
The actual ceremony will begin in the video at 1:00 for PLHS and 5:00 for PLSHS. The 15 minute lead time will give families time to start their family watch party and be sure their technology is working.
On YouTube, the videos will be posted at their designated start time. The You Tube videos will play like any other You Tube Video where you stop, start, rewind and fast forward.
How will I know the videos are posted?
All graduates and their parents will get a text and email message with the link as the video is posted.
I don’t have a Facebook page can I still watch the video?
Yes. You do not have to have a Facebook page to watch a video on Facebook.
With social distancing, how do I engage my family and friends in the Virtual Graduation or Honors Night?
Individual families can set up watch parties on Facebook. This way you can engage over social and still practice social distancing and the health regulations. Attached to this email is a handout on how to do this. Click here to view the handout.
Will all graduates be included in the graduation ceremony?
Yes. Every graduate will be included in the virtual ceremony when their name is read to receive their diploma. You can also be included in the ceremony by submitting a video of the graduate in their cap and gown throwing his or her hat. Videos must be submitted by Wednesday, May 6th at noon. Send videos to:
- Email to PLCSCommunications@paplv.org
- Upload to Dropbox at https://bit.ly/GraduationVideos
- If you have questions, call Annette Eyman at 402-690-6992
All submitted videos will be included into the virtual ceremony and will be entered into a drawing to win a prize.
