September 29, 2017
Dear Colts,
We had a very full week of instructional growth, club day, and extra curricular activities on campus. Our Colts are settling into their classes and adjusting nicely. Next week our students will have a four-day week of school with Friday off, giving our teachers an opportunity to continue their professional learning and bring back additional research-based skills for students. We look forward to the weekend and week ahead as we enter into the fun fall month of October!
BEST,
David Arencibia, Ed.D.

Student Voice at CMS
CMS, did you know?
Did you know that this school year our Advisory period is serving many purposes for our students?! We are using the period to do required activities that will allow more class time to uphold the integrity of our instructional purposes. Ways that we are using our Advisory includes enhancing students study skills, training on gmail, and training of digital products available to students to help them with organization and productivity. It is also being used to help with social organization such as the clubs that we introduced this past Monday and meeting time for Student Council, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), and Math Club. In addition, the Advisory period allows us to meet the needs of students needing additional tutoring help in their school work, some built in time during the week for possible homework or studying, and students personal planning time.
Quote from the feedback on Thought Exchange:
Thought: "Life skills lessons: including basic financial, safety and organization."
Experience: "Time management and organization skills".
Google Classroom
Parents, most of your students’ teachers use Google Classroom as a platform where students can access assignments and class information. Parents can receive summaries from Google Classroom to stay informed about what is happening in student’s classes. If you are not already listed as a guardian in Google Classroom, you should be receiving an email within the next week inviting you as a guardian to your student’s Google Classroom. Accepting the invitation will allow you to receive email summaries from Google Classroom. Click here for more information about email summaries:
Email Shannon.Jones@gcisd.net (CMS Librarian) if you have any questions.
