Travel with Alice to the wild and wacky world of Wonderland!
77 third and fourth grade students have been working hard on learning lines, music and dances to present Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. In addition to this fantastic performance, Symmes Players is celebrating a special milestone as well- its 20th birthday! Kathy Wenning, a parent at Symmes Elementary, had the idea to create a theater program where every 3rd and 4th grade student, regardless of abilities, could participate in a theatrical experience. Symmes Players was born! Since then, over 1400 students have participated in Symmes Players. As a special nod to all the past cast, crew and volunteers, the students will begin each performance night with a Symmes Players Review, a short history of our first 20 years. This is a must-see production. Ticket order forms will be coming home with students on April 7, make sure to order ahead of time because tickets are expected to be in demand. Performances are Friday, April 28 at 7 pm, Saturday, April 29 at 7 pm and Sunday, April 30 at 2pm. Tickets are $7/seat, children under 3 are free, if seated in a parent’s lap.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF SPRING OPTIONAL TESTING FOR IDENTIFICATION OF GIFTED STUDENTS
Although your child may or may not have taken the CogAT in December, you may request that your child be tested on the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT). If you wish to have your child participate in this round of testing, all requests must be made through the below online link by April 16, 2017. In order to decrease disruption to your child's instruction, this testing opportunity will take place prior to the start of the school day. We have scheduled this 45-50 minute testing session to be administered from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Symmes.
Please note that it is the parents’ responsibility to provide transportation the morning of testing to your child’s building. Additionally, know that Sycamore cannot use kindergarten or first grade scores for gifted placement.
