District Spotlight

Service Learning

One of the most rewarding programs for our students at EPASD is Service Learning, led by high school teacher Susan Fleagle. From Ms. Fleagle: "For many years, college recruiters have actively looked for high school students who had strong examples of leadership positions on their resumes. Currently, colleges and scholarship organizations are inspired by students who have an extensive resume of volunteer activities. While many of our teenagers have a desire to find a way to make their community better…it is often difficult to locate those opportunities so that they fit into their busy schedules. The Service Learning and Leadership classes give our high school students who choose to take these electives vast opportunities for varied volunteer opportunities throughout our school district campus."

Since the start of the school year, our high school Service Learning students have been working with our elementary students in different classrooms. The students provide support, engage with our students through learning activities, and act as role models. In addition, students provide general help throughout the school. From Mrs. Paula Wadlinger, "Our teachers and staff enjoy having them at EPE! They all come in happy to be here!"

Thank you to our Service Learning students for the wonderful work you do, and thank you to our teachers and staff for your support and guidance in this wonderful program!

Stadium Guidelines

A district-wide Blackboard email was sent on Wednesday, September 6th concerning stadium guidelines and conduct reminders.

We look forward to welcoming all of our students and families to sporting events this upcoming year. The safety of our guests, students, and staff is a top priority at these events. Over the past few seasons, there has been some concerning student behavior, particularly at football games. In an effort to maintain a safe, controlled environment for everyone, the following security measures have been adopted for all events occurring at George R. Saxton Jr. Memorial Stadium this school year.

  • All elementary and middle school students must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult (21 or older). In addition, the chaperone must accompany their party during entry, remain inside the stadium, and be available by phone throughout the event. Chaperones may be asked to validate their age by showing identification.
  • One adult may be responsible for up to five (5) children.
  • There will be no re-admittance into the stadium without purchasing a new ticket.
  • Students will not be permitted to gather in groups near the concession and entry areas. Students congregating will be asked to move to the stands to watch the event.

We appreciate everyone’s assistance and cooperation to keep these community events safe for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone come cheer on our student-athletes!

Device Insurance Fees

Did you know that in addition to accessing your student’s lunch account, you can also pay fees through MySchoolBucks?

If you have a newly enrolled student in grades 6-12, an invoice will be created for the initial device insurance fee. Please check your student’s account on MySchoolBucks.com. Please select School Store, then School Invoices to view all device invoices.

If your student has needed their device repaired, the insurance fee will cover the cost to repair the device. A new insurance fee will be applied to cover the cost of future incidents. Full details and payment information are available in our District’s 1:1 Device Guide. (epasd.org - parents & guardians - EPASD 1:1 Device Information - EPASD 1:1 Device Guide) To check your student’s account, please go to MySchoolBucks.com, select School Store, then School Invoices to view all device invoices.
