SUNSET RIDGE SCHOOL
Sunset Ridge School is an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme for East Hartford students in grades 6-8. Sunset Ridge provides students with the opportunity to develop their interests as well as their academic and artistic talents. The school encourages students to drive their own learning and work together with their peers in an international/global studies curriculum that meets the standards of IB’s Middle Years Programme.
At Sunset Ridge your child can learn Chinese or Spanish and participate in many fine arts programs throughout the school year. Fine arts opportunities include band, orchestra, choir, art, and digital design (technology).
While Sunset Ridge provides students with a rigorous education, complete with 1:1 devices, it also focuses on developing caring, knowledgeable, principled, and open-minded learners.
Students enrolled at Sunset Ridge have the opportunity to participate in a variety of intramural athletics alongside the students at East Hartford Middle School.
International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is defined by six trans-disciplinary themes of global significance and is explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. Students who are placed at Sunset Ridge Middle School will be eligible to apply for placement at the CT IB Academy (CIBA) for high school.
