PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES ~ No Students 10/19-10/20
Leverty Letter
· Important Reminder for Tuesday, October 24th
· Safety First
Security Door System: My thanks to all of our families that have been patient while we implement the new security system and vestibule. We’re excited to announce the system will be up and running on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
· As a reminder, students will come through the main lobby front doors between 8:00-8:30 AM. Doors will automatically unlock at 8:00 AM and lock down at 8:30 AM. If a student arrives at school prior to 8:00 they will not have open access to the lobby and may need to wait outside until the doors unlock automatically.
· Community access will be through the main office door (right-hand side) during school hours. This door will be unlocked throughout the day, however once inside of the vestibule community members will need to push the intercom to request access inside the main office.
· When picking up from after school clubs and daycare the main lobby doors will be unlocked at 3:45 PM.
Safety First: This week as we explore how the school prepares for emergency situations I want to talk about planning. The District provides a great amount of direction and resources in helping schools set up emergency plans, and for some logistical tasks, such as family reunification after a major event, they actual run the show; however, there are times when school staff will be responsible for emergency situations. In those instances, it is up to the staff to device plans broad enough to tackle any emergency, and/or specific enough to draw attention to tasks that must be completed in any emergency situation. We have a Safety Committee that meets monthly and reviews our safety plans, or develops new plans as trends and practices change.

PTO Harvest Fest ~ Friday, 10/27
As many of you are aware, the Montclair Harvest Fest is a very exciting and free evening event for our Montclair families – this year it’s Friday, October 27th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Montclair.
It’s a wonderful opportunity for our school community to enjoy a little old-fashioned family fun at no cost. That being said, we’d like to make sure all of our Montclair pumpkins are on the same page as to what to expect at this special event.
- It will be hot, sweaty, SUPER loud and FUN!
- Activities will take place in both the gymnasium and cafeteria (please check in at the front table in the lobby to obtain your passport and goodie bag).
- Kids (and even adults) are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume (however, we ask that masks, toy weapons and ghoulish face paint stay at home – we want to make this also enjoyable for our younger patrons).
- This is a family event (kiddos must be accompanied by an adult, no drop off).
- Food will not be provided (aside from candy and popcorn), please feed your kiddos before.
Please sign up at MyVolunteerPage.com, if you are available to volunteer.
If you have any questions with regard to this event, please feel free to call Jennifer Histed, (971-227-8334)
Thank you,
Jennifer Histed

School/District State Report Cards
School and district report cards for the 2016-17 school year are available at: http://www.ode.state.or.us/data/reportcard/reports.aspx. (Select Beaverton in the District Selection drop-down menu). We welcome the opportunity to share this information with you on the progress we are making to improve academic achievement for each student in the District. We are making progress.
State report cards began fifteen years ago when the 1999 Oregon Legislature passed a law requiring every public school and district to receive a report from the Oregon Department of Education about how they are performing overall. Given the recent passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and the expiration of Oregon's ESEA flexibility waiver on August 1, 2016, the State of Oregon will not assign an overall rating to schools for the 2016-17 school year. Our school ratings in the areas of student achievement and student growth on state assessments and graduation rates are available in our Report Card Rating Detail Sheet at the link above.
At Montclair WE are committed to using this information to help tailor our school improvement plans and academic programs to meet the needs of every student. You’ll find our current school improvement plan here: http://bit.ly/2xJnsGC. During the year we will communicate with you frequently about student achievement and programs in place at our school to foster student learning and success.
