The complicated mind of teenagers can often lead to behaviors that appear to be oppositional and defiant, when in fact their brains are not fully developed. As adults we often have high expectations of our adolescent students, however their brains are in a developmental period of chaos. Next Week's Courses
The Power of QuestionsCourse Num: 88 (2)
The ability to ask the right questions is a vital component in improving instruction and ensuring mastery of learning. When used effectively, questioning and other assessment techniques can increase engagement, raise student achievement levels, inspire learning, and create a positive classroom atmosphere. Please join us in exploring how we can use these skills to transform our classrooms and schools. The answer is in the questions. If you want to know why you're getting the results you are getting, look at what you're asking and consider who is asking. Our keynote, by Dr. Tracey Severns, will focus on the power of questions to spark interest, engagement, and deep understanding. Participants will learn how to apply Webb's Depth of Knowledge and Daggett's concept of Rigor and Relevance to evaluate and improve the quality of questions students are asked. In addition, participants will learn how to use the Question Formulation Technique in Rothstein and Santana's Make Just One Change, to teach students how to ask their own questions and drive their own learning.
