Please join us in welcoming Melissa Thomas
She currently serves as math department chair at Grayson High School in Gwinnett County. She is also a Math GACE instructor for Gwinnett County Public Schools and has been an adjunct faculty member for Gwinnett Technical Institute. Her list of accomplishments is extensive and includes being named Grayson High School Teacher of the Year. She has served as a staff developer and instructional coach for a wide variety of subjects including integrated trigonometry, geometry and algebra and is a frequent presenter at education conferences and workshops.
Melissa holds a master's degree in education from Brenau University, an educational specialist's degree from Nova Southeastern University (High School Math), and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Georgia.
She tells us, "I have experience teaching non-gifted, gifted and accelerated students but believe that all students will thrive if taught in a rigorous learning environment that is specifically cultivated with their success in mind. It is my goal to combine my range of experience and expertise with my ability to be an innovative, enthusiastic, well-prepared, organized facilitator who will make a positive contribution to the students who attend George Walton Academy."
Melissa's granddaughter is a student in our Pre-K3 program.
