We had such a great time with our mystery readers this week. Lucas' grandparents came and shared the story that was written by Lucas' uncle. We learned all about the Arizona desert too. Thank you so much for coming and sharing with us.
Our field trip is Tuesday. I believe that our movie starts at 10:00 and is about an hour. We should be up at the park in HV by 11:15. Chaperones will be riding the bus and resonsible for a group but anyone is welcome to meet us there. Your child must ride the bus both to and from the field trip to be counted present for the day. Chaperones need to be at OSE by 8:30 and buses will leave by 9:00. I will bring a rolling ice chest and my lunch cart as needed. If your child has an OSE shirt of some sort please have them wear that or a blue shirt will work too. We are looking forward to a fun day!
Field day is in 3 weeks. Please take a second to pick up or dig up a plain green t-shirt by this Friday. I will be ironing on our class team name and the kids will be designing monsters so we can be team McGhee's Monsters. Thanks for your help with this.
Dia de los NiƱos was a great day. The costumes were so fun! We had a bounce house, created our own book jackets with our characters on them, dancing, story tellers and a picnic. It was a successful and fun day!
As the weather is getting warmer, please don't forget to send in a sport top water bottle (labeled with their name). I refill them with cool filtered water all day. They are hot and thirsty after recess and begging for water. Thanks!
Have a great week.
April McGhee
WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts-We do have a spelling test this Friday. We continued working on poetry and will keep ading different types of poems this week too. We read How Chipmunk Got It's Stripes and started writing our very own folktale/fables.
Science-We are still learning about plants. We really had fun learning carnivorous plants and the effects of sunlight.
