The First Day of School is Monday-August 6th


Thank you to so many of you who were able to join us for our annual Open House event yesterday. The feeling in the building was positive and exciting. We know that our students are ready for a great year.

Today, we had limited hours, due to our entire cluster of Lanier Schools, coming together for a breakfast. Our staff also took a tour of our school's neighborhoods and ended with planning meetings for the school year. Staff in the building were preparing transportation, updating classrooms and getting prepared for a year of teaching and learning.

As you prepare for Monday and have school supplies to drop off, you may come with your child on Monday morning at 8:20 AM and meet us in the gym. All parents who would like to just accompany their child to class for the first day of school, must park in the back of the building by the gym and wait in the gym until 8:20 AM. After 8:45 AM, you must enter in the front of the building for proper entry.

This procedure allows for safety and proficiency. Also, in order to have the children transition to a positive day with their class, we ask that the drop off quickly so that our teachers can begin to connect with the class.

We will have no visitors for lunch for the 1st week of school. Please feel free to join us on Monday, August 13th during your child's designated lunch times.

New updates:

  • Cindy Alverson, our former AP has moved to Opp, Alabama to be closer to family and to begin a new career as a HS assistant principal. Dr. Glass and Ms. Sample will serve as our APs until a replacement is named.
  • All visitors will be asked at the door who they are and their reason for entering the building by our front desk clerk. Always have your ID ready to show every time. Vanessa Camacho-Chapparo is our new front desk clerk and is happy to join our team. Please be patient with our new district requirement that ensures a stronger and safe environment for our school community.
  • We will begin our morning announcements at 8:45 AM daily and ask that all car riders are in their seats ready to begin their day prior to 8:45 AM.
  • We are going to use Mypaymentsplus for all of our monetary transactions besides small fundraisers throughout the year. Please make sure that you sign up for this with the information below.
  • We are infusing social emotional learning with our PBIS discipline program. Every classroom will have morning meeting daily where they will greet one another, share something based on a focused topic, engage in an activity and end with a morning message. This 10 minute activity every day ties to our AKS, but also helps to start the day off positively. Ask your child about the amazing experience.

Important Information: Mandatory for all students for any monetary events at school

To Parents:

Please create an account on (MPP) before you arrive for Open House. Sycamore will be using MPP for parents to sign off on their required orientation documents this year, therefore, we are striving for 100% of our students to have their account set up.

You will need your student's school ID number (their lunch number) handy in order to create an account . If your child is beginning kindergarten, please bring your Driver's License (picture ID card) to Open House, so that we may provide their school ID number to you.

Sycamore will also use MPP as the main method for student payments this year for Clubs, Field Trips, etc.
