Activities for the 2015-2016 School Year
If your current 7th grader is planning to participate next year in cross country, volleyball, football, basketball, track, cheerleading, or drill team or if you current 6th graders is going to participate in cross country or track, they must have a KSHSAA Physical Form on file in the school office before the first practice. In order for your student to be eligible for the 2015-2016 school year, physicals must be taken after May 1st, 2015.
Some important general reminders about eligibility and activities at PSMS:
- All students interested in participating in athletics (football, volleyball, or cross country) must have a KSHSAA physical form on file in the office (dated AFTER May 1st, 2015) as well as a parent consent form, transportation form, emergency medical form, and concussion form to be able to try out/practice. Students without these forms will NOT be able to practice. Forms can be found on the PSMS website, www.bluevalleyk12.org/psms and then Click on Forms and Documents.
- A student must pass a minimum of five academic classes the previous semester to be eligible to participate.
- Students who are participating in extra and co-curricular activities such as any sport, musical/ theatrical performance or club/contest are expected to be at school the day of a performance/game/contest or practice session if the sessions are after school.
All of these guidelines are written in our Blue Valley Middle School Handbook. We follow the guidelines set by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA).
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call me. We look forward to your student getting involved!
Sincerely,
Stacey Sperry

PE Uniforms
This year we have made exciting changes to both our PE Uniforms and Spirit Wear, which are outlined below. You will find the order forms attached to this e-mail. Please note that to receive your order at Panther Kick Off in August that your order must be received by May 21st. Orders received after that date will be part of the second order placed after school begins.
· Checks should be made out to the PSMS PTO. Please write a separate check for each student order and different checks for PE Uniforms and Spirit Wear. This helps PTO better track your order as these orders are handled by different PTO volunteers.
· There are lots of options for this year’s PE shirt!!!! You may choose any of the three!
· The first option is a brand new PE Shirt that has a new logo and is being offered in either Irish Green or Sapphire.
· The second option is to wear this year’s shirt or previous PE shirt from PSMS.
· The third option is to wear the one you can buy at Price Chopper! J
· The girls PE short has been changed to a Soffe running short that is like the popular brand of running shorts that most girls wear. You still have the option of wearing this year’s short as well.
· The boy PE short is a mesh short that is blue, this hasn’t changed.
· Sample sizes are available in the office.
Thank you so much for your support of our PE uniform policy. Our goal is to keep everyone clean and safe!!!
Spirit Wear
· Checks should be made out to the PSMS PTO. Please write a separate check for each student order and different checks for Spirit Wear and PE Uniforms. This helps PTO better track your order as these orders are handled by different PTO volunteers.
· This year we are offering a girls’ burnout t-shirt. Please note that these shirts tend to run small/snug so please consider ordering a larger size.
· We are offering an Under Armour Tech Tee and a Champion Hoodie again.
·
Thank you!
