Inspiration for the Classroom

Making Assignments Digital (Thu, Mar 19, 12:30p or 1:30p)

Co-facilitated by Academic Technology Services and the Library, this session will introduce you to free digital tools for education. Enhance your course with engaging content or facilitate dynamic learning experiences for your students. We will explore content-rich custom maps (Story Maps), interactive scavenger hunts (GooseChase), and commercial-style animated videos (PowToons).

Past Workshops

Making Assignments Visual Co-facilitated by Academic Technology Services and the Library, this session will expose you to ideas and tools you can use to create visual assignments. In addition to reviewing data that supports creativity in education, we will explore free tools such as Piktochart (for creating infographics), Pinterest (for creating pinboard compilations), Glogster (for creating interactive posters), and PicMonkey (for creating digital art). The session will also include examples of visual assignments from Denver campus faculty, plus some best-of-the-best ideas from the around the Web.


Making Group Work Engaging Co-facilitated by Academic Technology Services and the Library, this session will expose you to techniques and best practices for designing group work that will engage students. In addition to exploring the proven benefits of group work, we will discuss how to tackle some of the common problems and view examples of unique and successful group assignments. Please come prepared with an assignment of yours (group or individual) for a session activity.


Making Finals Fun Co-facilitated by Academic Technology Services and the Library, Making Finals Fun will expose you to test prep games and tools for students, as well as some alternatives to the traditional final exam or final paper. We will also review the latest trends in higher ed testing and discuss some best practices for making your final assessments meaningful.
