New York City, New York
America Under Attack
An Islamic Terrorist group known as al-Qaeda attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 in New York City. Four airlines were hijacked, two being flown into the World Trade Center, another into the Pentagon in Washington D.C, and the other in a field in Pennsylvania. These attacks resulted in both Trade Center towers collapsing and one wing of the Pentagon as well. Almost 3,000 people died during this attack. Osama Bin Laden claimed responsibility. This was his way of declaring a "holy war."
