GT Update News: Edition 21

for Mrs. Anderson's Crew

Last week, fourth grade completed their fictional narratives and I was able to display them at Open House. If you haven't gotten the opportunity to read them, you can check them out in your child's Google Drive, Unit 2 folder. This week fourth grade will be staying with their fourth grade classes to take part in Camp-Write-Along:) I will also not see them next week due to STARR testing. We will reconvene the week after STARR.
Last week fifth graders chose an inventor or innovator and began researching information about one of their inventions/innovations. The primary focus is for students to understand that every innovation is preceded by something else, and that inventions evolve over time. Once they complete their research, they will create a form of communication to show their learning. Next week I won't see fifth grade due to STARR testing. The week after STARR, they will begin working toward their final unit project.
Last week in third grade they completed their unit 1 Google Art Galleries for you to view at Open House. If you didn't get a chance to see your child's, it is located in their LISD e-portfolio, take a look! Afterwards, most completed a LEGO challenge, with a focus about levers, and building and structures. This week, we will begin our next unit: Communication-media analysis. I am excited about this unit; the students will assume the roles of employees of an advertising agency, with many different jobs to do over the course of the unit.
