3. On April 1st and 2nd GCJHS hosted the ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) Festival for Junior High/Middle School bands, orchestras and choirs. In addition to our own music groups, we hosted performers from about 25 other schools from throughout the state. This yearly festival involves the musicians performing music and being evaluated by 3 adjudicator's to assess how well the groups are meeting the standards.

BANDS

Both our 7th and 8th Grade Bands had tremendous performances, and each Band earned a Gold Rating from all three judges. These Gold Ratings, along with results from other events earlier in the year, earned for our GCJHS Band program ISSMA's "All-Music Award". This is quite an honor, as we were one of only 38 schools state-wide (out of approximately 500) to earn that this year.

CHOIRS

The Guys Choir received an overall Gold Rating. Both the 7th and 8th Grade Girls Choirs received overall Gold Rating With Distinction.

ORCHESTRA

Our 8th Grade Orchestra earned a Gold Rating at the contest.
