Aiming to Achieve Blue Ribbon Status
We implemented a new reading program in September, CKLA Amplify, which is aligned to research that elucidates how children learn to read, write, and speak. I am extremely proud of our teachers for the countless hours that they have invested in their own learning and planning to make our implementation successful. I am equally as proud of our scholars for putting forth their best effort and wholeheartedly participating in the lessons and activities each day.
Below are some bright spots in our literacy data so far this school year that we'd like to invite our school community to celebrate.
32% of our scholars have exceeded the year-long typical growth expectations on the iReady Reading Diagnostic! Last year at this time, only 24% had exceeded this same benchmark.
9% of our scholars have exceeded the year-long stretch growth expectations on the iReady Reading Diagnostic! Last year at this time, only 7% of our scholars had already reached their stretch growth target.
Attendance
Security Drills
In the event of a security drill or emergency at arrival, please be aware that we will be directing all children who have exited a vehicle or bus into the school under the supervision of our staff. Any child who is still in a car or bus will need to stay in that vehicle until the drill or emergency is over before exiting. Please watch staff for cues about the need to quickly enter the building in the event of a drill or emergency situation.
At dismissal, scholars who have exited the building will be directed to their vehicle or bus. All other scholars will lockdown or shelter in place in the building until the drill or emergency is over. In the event of an emergency or drill at dismissal, scholars may be delayed exiting the building and getting home.
Thank you for understanding the need to practice for an emergency at all times of our school day. If you have questions or concerns, please contact our main office.

Be You
Our school wide theme this year is "Be You", based on the text of the same name by Peter H. Reynolds. This month, we focus on the importance of being kind and understanding.
