Te Karere a te Tumuaki (Principal's Message)
Kia ora tātou katoa (Hi/greetings/hello everybody). It's hard to believe that we are at the end of the 2021 school year. On behalf of the BoT, staff and students we would like to thank you for your continued support throughout what has been a challenging year. Despite the challenges, we are proud of what we have still managed to achieve and this is largely down to the supportive community that nurtures our journey.
Congratulations to our Year 8's for doing a magnificent job of speaking at the Prize-Giving assembly today. There wasn't a dry eye in the house - we were all impressed with the content and quality of each speech, a job well done.
Congratulations also to our Prize-Giving recipients. You are all well deserving winners of your categories and we are proud of your efforts this year that have lead to you receiving these awards.
We wish all of our Year 8's and their families the very best for 2022 and beyond. For many of you, your long association with the school is coming to a close. We acknowledge the time, effort and support that the Anderson; Blundell; Church; Cross/Tucker; Stewart and Williams families have provided in many ways, over many years. We hope that you stay connected to Gladstone School - once part of 'Team Gladdy', always part of 'Team Gladdy'.
Thanks very much to everyone for all the lovely messages and Christmas treats received. We wish everyone a fun, festive, relaxing summer break and look forward to seeing you all again soon - ka kite awe ano (see you again soon).
Team Gladdy

Year 8 Leavers Dinner 2021
What a wonderful evening it was last night to spend time with our Year 8 leavers and their caregivers. We were treated to an amazing meal - thank you to everyone from the BoT and staff who provided food for this event (well done to Mrs Douglas and Whaea Micaeala who did an amazing job in the kitchen). We were grateful to the Gladstone Complex for allowing us to use their awesome facility and think it will be a locked-in location for future years.
We will miss you all, but hope that you will stay connected to the school.

COVID-19 Update
Schools are moving to the traffic light system as of the 1st of January 2022. We will be communicating changes and what this means for school events and activites early in the new year. In the mean-time, if you are coming to use the school pool, please scan the QR code on the school gate and social distance where possible. Keys will be available from the school office until the 22nd of January - please email ahead to organise a pick-up time.
Gladstone Horse Sports
Super day for Gladdy kids riding at the Gladstone horse sports on Saturday and here are some highlights below.
Isla Blackwood and Felina won the kindergarten jumping
Lyra Alexander and Shelly won Under 9 Reserve Champion
Neela Rogers and Ted won Under 9 Champion
Lily Butler and Elsie won best local combination, 3rd in the handy hunter class and went well in the games and show jumping.
Rosie Walters and Lucy came 2nd best rider in the under 13 section. And had a great time in the pony jumping ring.
Alex McDonald and Lizzie had 3 great double clear show jumping rounds and gave the handy hunter a try too.
Help With Holiday Chicken & Goat Feeding
Thanks so much to all the families who have volunteered to feed the chickens & goats. We have a couple of spots left to fill if you are about in the second week of January - link is below.
Gladstone Church Christmas Services
Once again there is a group of keen children practising for the annual carol service on Sunday 19th December at 5 p.m. Due to Covid restrictions it won’t be in the church but at the Strangs’ “Gobbler”, 1686 Longbush Road. Please bring your own chairs or rugs. If the weather is unsuitable we will sadly have to cancel the event.
The usual Christmas Eve family Christingle service will be in the church at 5 p.m. which will require Vaccine Passports for anyone 12 and over. Up to date details will be on the church website (link below) or by phoning me on 3727864. Many thanks, Sue Beauclerc.
Term Dates for 2022
Term 1 2022 will start for students on Wednesday the 2nd of February. We will also be having our whānau BBQ on this date from 5pm onwards. Details will be sent out with other start up information towards the end of January - please save the date.
