Smarter Balance Testing
We are entering the last trimester of school. In preparation, for the Smarter Balance CAASPP Testing (grades 3rd through 8th ) which will begin in April, teachers are working diligently to present challenging lessons that make students think deeply and understand fully what is being taught.
In reading, understanding and comprehending what is read is very important. Students are developing and building their reading skills to improve their reading fluency, writing opinions, using evidence from books and other texts, and engaging in group reading activities.
In math, math fluency (knowing multiplication facts) is highly important. Students will need to not only calculate but apply those calculations to solve word problems and show how they arrived at their answers.
It is challenging, but our Mustangs can perform well. Encourage your child to read daily and to know their basic math facts which can really boost their confidence.
