Victoria Magathan Tiger Bulletin

October 17-21

Celebrations

We completed our first quarter.

We booked a book fair with Barnes and Noble for November 30th.

Housekeeping

Make sure all carts are returned to closet at the end of the day and the last person is responsible for locking the door.

Make sure to empty your mailbox regularly.

The workroom has been organized to provide storage for grade level binders in the cupboard. Thanks to all those who assisted in making this possible.

Renaissance Fall Screening Window

The screening window is now open for Fall. Please have your Kinder students take the STAR Early Literacy test. Grades 1-5 need to take STAR Reading and STAR Math. The DI students now have all STAR programs in Spanish. The window closes on October 28th.

Writing

If you haven't already, turn in your top 3 writing papers form the first prompt to any of our writing committee people (Manriquez, Sandoval, Woodward, or Valdez). The winners will be posted in the foyer after they are announced. The next writing prompt will be due November 18th. It is a narrative with a fall theme.

SST Forms

You should NOT be conducting SST meetings at parent conferences. All SST paperwork needs to be turned into Mrs. Centeno or to me. We will then schedule SST meetings. We have not received any paperwork yet.

PBIS

This month's characteristic will be HONESTY.

This week we will focus on behavior in the computer lab and behavior using the chrome carts.

Only a few of you have submitted your postcards- you should be turning in two positive postcards a week. These need to be submitted to Anna before they go out.

I received a lot of Student of the Month cards for August and September-please remember to fill one out for October.

Our CICO begins Monday. Please see the email with the list of students and directions.

Our ROAR Store will be open Tuesday and Wednesday. Sign up for a time in the workroom.

MTSS

MTSS will only occur Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for the next two weeks due to early dismissal Thursday and Friday. Again- NO MTSS on Thursday or Friday for the next two weeks. Everyone is doing a great job with their intervention groups. We will be putting your MTSS groups in Renaissance to assist with keeping track of students' progress. If you have made changes to your groups, please let me know so we can place the student in the correct group.

The great SHAKEOUT

We will participate in our district wide drill on Wednesday at 10:20. We will duck and cover and then evacuate to the field.

Tutoring

I have received proposals for tutoring from Mrs. Woodward, Mr. Chow, and Mrs. Campbell. If you plan on tutoring, please submit your proposal by Monday, October 17th.

Saturday School

Your students should be receiving letters for Saturday School this week. Please pass them out and return them to Anna as soon as possible.

Word of the Day

Here are the words of the day for this week so you can review them with your students if you'd like: author, audience, character, narrator

Sentences: You can become a great author like many of the authors who have written the stories you are reading. When writing a story, you must consider your audience and make the story interesting to them. If you make your main character in the story interesting, the story becomes enthralling. The narrator is another important character in every story.
