Whiteley Wildcat Update
November 1, 2019
We definitely got the surprise of our life with the snow on Halloween! Our students were still able to enjoy some amazing activities that our room parents organized. I was so impressed with the creativity, time and energy that the parents put into our parties. On behalf of the staff we want to thank the PTA and the parents for all of their hard-work. Thank you!
Student Drop-Off Reminders
We just wanted to give our parents a gentle reminder on the student drop-off procedures. This will allow our traffic to flow smoothly and allow for the safety of all.
-Pull all the way forward as far as possible
-Students should exit once the car has stopped anywhere along the yellow line (do not wait to get closer to the door, and do not exit on the grass near the parking lot entrance)
-Be ready to go once car has stopped- coats on, bags ready, quick good bye, etc.
-Once child has left the vehicle and line is moving, pull carefully away from the curb (do not watch them walk all the way into the building)
We appreciate all of your support.

Quick Tips To Make The Most of Your Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conference
It’s that time of year again! Trick or treating, giving thanks, and yes, parent teacher conferences are coming soon -- November 25 and 26, to be precise!
As a parent it is extremely important that you set aside time to not only attend your child’s conference, but also to prepare to make the most out of the one-on-one time you have with your child’s teacher. Your child’s teacher will have information for you about assessments your child has taken and examples of their classroom work. Teachers will also talk to you about your child’s level of engagement in classroom activities, how your child is progressing socially, and provide you with a preview of what you can expect for the remainder of the year at your child’s grade level.
Just like teachers prepare for conferences with you, parents can benefit from a little pre-planning for your conference with the teacher.
Follow these quick tips to prepare:
- Before the parent teacher conference, talk to your child. Ask them about their favorite and least favorite parts of their school day and why they feel that way.
- Ask your child who they sit with at lunch and during their classes and if there are any issues as a result.
- Ask your child if they are having difficulty in any of their subjects. If they are expressing difficulty, encourage them to let their teacher know and ask for help and then bring that information with you to the conference.
- Ask yourself if there are any changes in your home that may be affecting your child at school and decide if this is important to share with your child’s teacher.
- Bring any assignments your child has brought home that you have questions about with you to the conference.
- Make a note to ask your child’s teacher about homework and daily reading requirements.
- If you are unable to make it to your assigned conference time, contact your child’s teacher to arrange for another time.
Parent teacher conferences are a great opportunity to get to know a little more about your child’s day and help build a strong home-school partnership that is the foundation of student success. We look forward to welcoming you on November 25-26!
