Pi Day is Monday!!!
We are celebrating National Pi Day on Monday, March 14th. Students should bring in canned food items for our food drive. We hope to collect at least 314 cans and students will receive extra recess if we reach our goal. So far our class has collected only 19 cans, so remember your cans on Monday!
Monday morning, I will quiz students to see who can remember the most digits of Pi. The girl and boy who remember the most digits will be crowned King and Queen of Pi. On Monday afternoon students will rotate through four rotations and complete fun activities focused on the magnificent number of Pi.
Last but not least, the cafeteria is serving special circle pizzas to fifth grade students for lunch in honor of Pi Day. If your student does not have money in their account but wishes to get pizza on Monday, please send $2.00 to school on Monday.
Math MAP Testing is Thursday, March 17th.
My language arts and math students will take their math MAP test on Thursday of this week. Please make sure they get a good night's sleep on Wednesday night!
Hooverville Models
Our Hooverville Model project was a great success.
Creativity and Imagination!
Students made signs, trees, pipe cleaner people, and even fire pits with tissue paper:) This group included a clothesline since "they didn't have washers and dryers" in Hooverville!
Teamwork
Students worked really well together and some said it was their favorite project of the year!
