ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE / DEC. 6-9
Sand Creek's annual food drive started this week, thank you to those families that contributed today. If you're able to help, let's fill these tables by the end of the week. Donations go to the Anoka Christmas Committee and Food & Toys for Joy. Items to donate include: mac & cheese, rice, ramen, canned tuna or chicken, and toiletries. The Sand Creek Stars have been significant contributors to the Anoka Christmas Committee for over 10 years. Thank you for making this year another wonderful season of giving!
TRIMESTER 1 REPORT CARDS
Last Thursday, December 1st was the end of Trimester 1. Reports will be sent home with students tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7th. Please take time to review your child's progress and to talk about school thus far. Here are some discussion questions to help those important conversations.
- What are you most proud of in Trimester I?
- What was most challenging for you in Trimester I?
- What goal(s) do you have for Trimester II?
- How can I/we support your progress at school?
FALL FUNDRAISER
Thank you to the Sand Creek families who participating in this year's fall fundraiser and raised over $23,000 for our school! All participants in the fundraiser, either through direct donations or chocolate bar sales, got to watch Mario (Mr. A) take on Princess Peach (Mrs. T) in a one lap “winner takes all” Mario Kart race on scooters. Mr. A, what was the problem? Mrs. T lead from start to finish! You're slow! Watch the video for yourselves to witness the definitive defeat of Mario so-not-Andretti! Prizes that were earned by Stars for chocolate bar sales were distributed to students today. A huge thanks to all of our Stars for a job well done!
HOLIDAY SHOP ON SATURDAY
Our annual Holiday Shop, sponsored by the Sand Creek PTO, is a fun way for students to shop for family members (secretly in the gym) and experience the spirit of giving! Stop in the cafeteria for a treat and visit Santa for a photo opp! This annual PTO event is this Saturday morning, Dec. 10th from 9:00-11:30.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
As Trimester I ends and we begin Trimester 2 - we want to remind all families of the importance of notifying the school of ALL absences. Parents have three options for reporting absences.
- The easiest it to call our attendance line (763-506-4306) 24-hours a day, and leave a detailed message, including first & last name, grade, & reason for the absence.
- You can also email us at sandcreek@ahschools.us, including first & last name, grade, & reason for the absence.
- For you tech savvy folks, you can also mark your child absence in the ParentVue app.
When a family fails to notify us, it is recorded as an unexcused absence. When a students reaches three unexcused absences, the family will receive a letter from administration, along with a courtesy call from one of the principals or social workers. If the problem persists, and a student reaches six unexcused absences, we are required to file truancy with the county. The easiest way for families to avoid this is to simply notify the school, via one of the methods above, each and every time a student is absent. Thank you for doing this consistently!
