Anthem School Updates
March 25, 2020
Dear Anthem School Community,
The administration, teachers and staff at Anthem hope everyone is doing well during this unusual time. In an effort to keep everyone updated with the most current and accurate information, we are working closely with District Office staff who have been sending out communications throughout the past week.
On Tuesday, March 31 parents will be able to pick up band instruments and personal belongings that are needed for learning activities. We ask that no more than one child and parent come at a given time. Mr. Taylor will be contacting all band students regarding picking up any instruments. In addition, parents may call the school office at 623-376-3700 between 8:00 and 12:00 to schedule a time to pick up necessary items. Please note, these items are necessary for learning and this time is not for picking up water bottles or other personal items.
To best meet DVUSD community needs, please be sure to complete the district survey regarding technology and connectivity. You can find the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q7FYZLS. Parents are asked to fill this out by March 27.
On Monday, March 30, the District Curriculum & Assessment Department will post extended and enrichment learning opportunities for families to engage in with their children from March 30 - April 3. These extended learning opportunities are not required, nor will they be used for grading purposes. The extended learning opportunities will be communicated and posted for families to view on a District website (www.dvusd.org/ExtendedLearning) by the end of the day on March 29.
The District has set a goal to begin delivering online teaching and learning opportunities beginning on Monday, April 6. In order to do this, certified and some classified staff will be engaging in various training and planning activities between now and April 3. Please note that home learning provided by the teachers will not start prior to April 6. Again, there are activities being made available for students next week that can be found at www.dvusd.org/ExtendedLearning.
Regarding future communication: Beginning, Monday, March 30 there will be a daily update on the DVUSD www.dvusd.org/COVID19 webpage. It is possible that the daily posting will indicate that there is no new update, and when that is the case, we will simply post, “no new update.” Anthem administration and teachers will also communicate as appropriate. In addition, beginning Monday, April 6, teachers will have daily virtual office hours. Information will be shared next week.
We are hosting a DISTANCE SPIRIT WEEK next week, March 30th - April 3. Please see the flier below for details.
To recap - if you have a band student, please be on the lookout for communication by Mr. Taylor Friday or Monday about picking up your instrument on Tuesday. If you feel that there are essential learning materials your child needs at school, please call the office Tuesday between 8:00 and 12:00 to set up an appointment.
We miss you all and are thinking about you. We thank you for your patience and understanding as everyone works hard to navigate these uncharted waters. Don’t forget to tag us on Twitter and Instagram @AN_Rockets so we can keep in touch!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Roets & Dr. Craig

I hope you and your family are well. As you may know, your school is an All Things E.Q. school, and each week we focus on a different motto. During this time of enormous change, I wanted to offer you additional options and resources to discuss the All Things E.Q. weekly motto at home, if you choose.
Each week, I will provide a brief video highlighting the key insights for the week. I will also include, via the links below resources and activities that you may find helpful.
Here are the resources I mentioned in the video above:
Despite the challenges we face, people continue to rise above. Thanks to all the teachers who are working diligently to create learning opportunities for our students at home. Thanks to all the parents for your understanding and support from home. Challenges often reveal the best in us.

Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
