Teaching the Black Panthers: Expand Your Civil Rights Curriculum
The Black Panthers online screening for educators, Tues 2/23 at 6pm CST
Join a special OVEE online screening “Teaching the Black Panthers: Expand Your Civil Rights Curriculum and Connect to Current Events.” Please invite your educator network to join us and to RSVP at: https://ovee.itvs.org/screenings/bqebf
After Beyonce's headline-making Superbowl performance sparked national discussion about the Black Panther Party and race in America, are you wondering how you can incorporate teaching the history of this complex movement with your students? Join us for a unique online event that will focus on how to talk and teach about the history of the Black Panther Party in schools using scenes from the new Independent Lens documentary, The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.
This event will include a never before seen conversation with Filmmaker Stanley Nelson, Former Black Panther Michael McCarty, and Prof. Kimberly Ellis (aka Dr. Goddess). Educational advisors will be on hand to answer your questions and share best practices. More information can be found on the RSVP page above. We hope to see you there!
