President’s Message for March
Dear Members,
Our Chamber is working very hard to keep members up to date with economic relief packages and news releases to support your business at this incredibly challenging time. Many of you are probably telecommuting, balancing work and home life, and concerned about the economic impact of COVID-19 on your company or small business.
I am proud that our Chamber has been very proactive on your behalf:
- February 28, 2020, members of our board met with Senator Van Hollen of Maryland to discuss the potential impact of COVID-19 on small businesses. Read the article in the BBJ.
- March 12, 2020, we published a business resource page on COVID-19 on our website, followed by an email to members with a statement about the pandemic.
- March 19, 2020, we created and distributed a Guide to Local Restaurants with Delivery & Curbside Options to 4,000 contacts. We have also shared this list with Baltimore County for their interactive map, as well as the Office of the Comptroller.
- March 19, 2020, we emailed all members information about how to support local businesses. Missed the email? Click here.
- March 24, 2020, social media launch of the POM Pledge to support our local businesses.
A rising tide lifts all boats. Together, we will lift each other.
Be well,
Beth Rheingold
POM Chamber President
Take the POM Pledge!
Pledge to spend a certain amount of money in the next two weeks at local businesses. Even if you're not going out, you can use your purchasing power in creative ways:
- purchase birthday and holiday gifts early; call stores or visit their FB pages
- purchase sporting goods you can use now
- support independently-owned restaurants and shops
- support local restaurants with delivery/curbside pick up
- support local businesses that have online shopping available
- support local grocery stores with curbside or delivery
- purchase gift cards to use later from local stores that offer them
Start with our Online Directory of businesses. The POM Pledge is specifically designed to support local businesses in the Pikesville-Owings Mills region. Remember, independent businesses need your support the most! Tag the businesses where you plan to spend your dollars.

Pikesville Farmers Market Opens Tuesday, May 5, 2020 2PM
OPENING DAY IS TUESDAY, MAY 5 at 2PM!
As the State of Maryland continues its unprecedented response to COVID-19, the Maryland Department of Agriculture is emphasizing the need for businesses involved in the state’s food supply chain to continue production.
Reliable access to food is a human right and it is critical that our food supply chain maintain – and even be prepared to expand – operations throughout this state of emergency. Any business involved in food distribution, production, processing, sales and supply will be considered essential,
The Pikesville Farmers Market, run by the POM Chamber, is closely monitoring COVID-19 in our community and will be taking every precaution to keep our customers and vendors safe. Vendors will be 5 feet apart from each other. We will have hand-washing stations for customers, and ask that customers not congregate in the market. See our Pikesville Farmers Market Guidelines before visiting the farmers market on May 5.
Our farmers market vendors need you as much as we need them! Please support the Pikesville Farmers Market every Tuesday, May-October.
