Summer Training Opportunity
Summer Training Opportunity via GCISD - June 12th - 13th (AVID)
GCISD will be offering a WICOR Workshop on June 12-13th. Teachers can register to attend to receive 12 hours of WICOR training and officially be AVID trained along with earning their GT 6 HOUR UPDATE!
This is a great opportunity for teachers who may or may not be a part of the site team, but are interested in learning about WICOR strategies and how to incorporate them into their classroom! I've attached a flyer for more information.
NEW Teachers: This is an excellent way to set a foundation in lesson designs that scaffold and add rigor.
Workshop Objective: WICOR stands for writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. Attend this workshop to learn engaging instructional strategies that will deepen the rigor in your classroom. You will spend two days learning core AVID strategies, collaborating and learning how to incorporate WICOR into your lesson plans. Participants who complete this workshop will officially be considered AVID trained! Register on Eduphoria.
If you decide to attend, send me an email so I can keep track and apply this toward our 2018-19 certification.
Restroom Passes
- Please do not allow students to leave your classroom during the 1st 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of class.
- Always write or issue a pass. ( It matters. A good rule of thumb is if you don't have time to provide a pass, then they don't have time to be out of class).
- Continue to assign lunch detentions for tardies.
- Be judicious about letting students out of your class.
Teacher Recommendation Form- 2018-19 (ELAR, Math, Science) *There is no on level SS
It's that time of year where we are finalizing student course selections for the 2018-19 school year. Students have made their selections but often times need a little guidance. Who better to help in this recommendation than their teacher from the past 9 months? **Quick reminder, in order for students to take GT courses, they must have already qualified. However, if your student that is in your on level math class, but you feel that they would have their needs best served in PAP next year, print and fill out the form in its entirety below. Turn this form into the counselors as soon as possible. Thank you all for sharing your voice in advocating for our Wolves. Together Everyone Achieves More!
Learning Liaison Corner
Here is to perseverance, learning new things and not giving up!
I am celebrating so much of the goodness and positivity at CTMS. I love seeing us engage in a growth mindset where we are willing to try new and challenging ways of doing things. When you think of it, shouldn’t we be willing to try new ways of learning if that is what we ask of our students? I love how CTMS teachers walk and walk.
Hugs,
Grimes
