Summary
In the book Mockingjay, which is the third and final book to the series The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins (authour) writes to us about the time that Katniss and Gale spent in District 13, while Peeta was trapped in the capital. The whole book follows the revolution that District 13 is trying to start with Katniss as their mockingjay, leading them to freedom. While the people of 13 are focusing on taking over the capital Katniss's main focus is on getting Peeta back.
As the book goes on, District 13 begins to take over the other districts one at a time until they attack the capital and resuce Peeta back. When Katniss gets to see him, he tries to attack and kill her. In the rest of the book, Peeta is still unsure who to trust or what is real and not real. Peeta slowly begins to trust Katniss again more and more.
Main Characters
Is this book apart of a series?
Yes! This is the third book in a trilogy. The first book was The Hunger Games, this book shared how Katniss and Peeta were put into the games to fight to the death until only one out of twenty-four teens were left. It shares about all of the hard times that they had to go through and what their families went through while they were gone. The second book in the trilogy is Catching Fire, in this book the Capital is not happy with how the last games ended (Katniss and Peeta both were allowed to live because they were going to commit suicide) so they put them back into the next Hunger Games. This causes many people in the other districts to become angry with the capital so they secretly plan an uprising in the districts. This book ends with Katniss blowing up the arena that they were in and then getting saved to become the face of the rebellion, that is where the third book then starts.
Would you recommend this book?
All three of the books in this series are very well written. While this is the only book in the series that does not include and actual Hunger Games battle it is still full of different adventures that they go on. The books are written in a way that makes you want to keep reading them. Even after the book was over I was wishing that there would be a fourth one so you could continue to read about what happens in their lives after all of the Hunger Games are gone forever.
What did you enjoy about this book?
I enjoyed many different things about this book, but one was that you always wanted to know more about the characters life. I usually do not read books very quickly but the way that Mockingjay was written made me read the whole book in just four days. The whole time I read I felt like I was in the story and could picture exactly what was going on and felt like I was apart of the story.
