2019-2020 FSS Fall Conferences
The Florence Sawyer School Fall Conferences for grades K-8 will be held on Thursday, October 24, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday, October 25, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We will be using the online scheduling tool “Pick-A-Time” to coordinate appointments with teachers. Babysitting services will be provided by our 8th Grade Class during all posted conferencing hours in the Florence Sawyer Cafeteria. The service is a fundraiser to defray the costs of their End of the Year Activities.
This online sign-up feature will be available beginning Thursday, October 10 at 7:00 PM and will close at 11:59 PM Monday, October 21. You will use your browser to select which teachers you would like to meet and when.
The instructions are as follows:
Go to the FSS website at http://sawyer.nrsd.net and click on "Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Up" on the main screen.
Enter your email address and push "Login/Create Account". If you do not have an email address please use your first initial and last firstname.lastname@example.org. You will not receive an email confirmation.
Fill in the required fields and register.
For each child, enter your child’s student ID which is their first name and last name WITH NO SPACE BETWEEN THE TWO. This must be the complete first name not a nickname – Thomas instead of Tom for instance, and their security value, which is their date of birth in this format m/d/yyyy or 5/3/1992 for May 3, 1992. and push "Add"
To Sign In
If you have previously registered for conferences here, all you need to do is enter your email and password. The system will know about your appointments and the children you added to your account. If you have forgotten your password, please contact Deb Helfgott at email@example.com or Melissa Clericuzio at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will update it for you.
Each colored square represents an available meeting time. The legend shows you what teacher corresponds to what color and the times increase as you go down the page. (Note: you will not see all of the teachers, just the set of teachers that your children have classes with). Click on a square to book that time.
After you set when you want the reminder email to be delivered, click "Create Appointment."
Repeat until you have a time with each teacher you'd like to visit with.
At any time you can click on "printable schedule" and print the resulting web page to get a hard copy of your schedule.
If you want to make changes to your schedule, you can log in at any time with your email and password.
If you have more than one appointment, they will be hidden. Click on the blue circle to the left of your name at the top of the screen to show your appointments. There will be links to modify the time, or cancel the appointment.

Changes to the NRSD Elementary Report Cards
The primary goal of report cards is to provide information regarding students’ progress with respect to both content standards and habits of learning. Standards are written benchmarks that explicitly state what students are expected to have mastered by the end of the year. Teachers use multiple measures to assess children’s performance in each area. The hope is that, by the end of the year, every family has a comprehensive picture of a child’s learning and growth over the course of the year.
As a school and district community, we encourage students to cultivate a mindset that emphasizes learning as a continual process. It is important that the reporting process mirrors the current practices and messages that students receive in our classrooms. In addition, research indicates that students achieve the greatest growth through targeted and specific feedback.
With this in mind, students’ progress will continue to be reported using an updated standards-scale. The updated scale provides specific feedback regarding students’ progress with respect to the end-of-year standards at a particular grade-level. The report card has also been reorganized to reflect our focus on supporting students’ social, emotional and academic skills. You will see that work habits and comments appear earlier in the new version of the report card. Additionally, in order to focus on student growth and feedback related to the standards, letter grades will no longer be used in grade 5. Standards-based reporting facilitates more informed conversations about each student’s strengths and next steps for learning.
To provide more information regarding the end-of-year expectations for each grade, a 2019-2020 school year parent guide for standards-based reporting will be posted on the Nashoba Regional School District website by the end of the first trimester.
We look forward to our continued partnership in support of your children’s learning. Please feel free to reach out via email or phone if you have questions or would like to discuss this further.
