Grade 4 Class Newsletter
January 2015
Welcome Back Parents & Students!
Welcome back to the most intensive and aggressive semester of the school calendar;) I hope that you all enjoyed a wonderful break with your children, iA.
Please be informed of the following:
- Grade Reports will be sent out this week.
- Monday January 19th, 2015 is a public holiday, therefore, no school will be in session.
- The grading process will be noticeably more vigorous, as the students' writing needs to be a priority and brought up-to-par, iA.
- The preparation for standardized testing will begin this week. For this reason, I would also need the cooperation of parental assistance.
- Please send healthy and wholesome foods for your child's snack and lunch.
- Friday January 16th, 2015; Ilm Skyline Event from 4 PM - 8 PM.
- Friday January 30th, 2015; Bake Sale.
- Rad-Kids & Reading A-Z has been purchased for an entire year. Therefore, I would strongly urge you to please encourage your child(ren) to take advantage of this program, which will allow them excel academically in ALL subjects.
- Please consult Renweb for all the week's learning objectives, spelling lists, and homework updates.
- Spelling Bee is scheduled for the beginning of February. So please begin reviewing the words with your children. If there are any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Meanwhile, I will inform you via email, of any additions or changes to this month's schedules, iA:)

ASA Parents,
I hope you enjoyed your break. It is now time to begin the second-half of our school year. This month, we will start our new year with Op Art! The students will learn some ways to use lines, shapes, and space to create optical illusions. Op Art works are abstract with many of the better known and popular pieces made in black and white. In terms of Physical Education, we will continue our regular routine with stations, warm-ups, and competitive activities.
Sr. Intidhar - Science
Science subjects to be covered this Month:
-Explain how Earth’s rotation causes the cycle of the day and night.
-Identify why the Moon is covered with craters.
-Discuss the properties of the inner and outer planets.
-Explore stars, including their composition, appearance, and distance from Earth.
-Identify the characteristics of the Sun and its importance to life on Earth.
-Properties are used to describe matter.

In Social Studies we will be beginning chapter 5 on the Southeast. We will learn about how the Southeast region of the United States was settled and we will learn about what the Southeast is like today. We will then be moving onto Unit 4 which covers the Midwest region of the United States.

Assalamu Alaykum fourth grade parents,
I hope you all have a relaxed winter break and all energized for another Fun-Tastic semester.
This month we will begin a new unit. Unit3 – A Day In a Student’s Life.
Fourth graders will be able to describe their daily routine and activities in Arabic, from the moment they wake up right up to bedtime.

Alhamdulillah hope you all had a relaxing and refreshing break. InshaAllah this month we will start with an in class "Goal Project" where we see what we accomplished together in Unit A, Unit C, Unit D and Unit E. We will revisit the lessons learned InshaAllah and put them in a form of Tree Analogy to understand how it all fit together before starting new topics. We will rewrite our short term and long term goals and then see a clear road map to achieve the same with help of Allah SWT. We will then be working on Unit G :: My Islamic Character. May Allah SWT increase us all in beneficial ILM and Amal (Actions) Ameen.
