Farm Science ReviewOn Wednesday September 21, 6 students and state degree recipients traveled to London, Ohio to visit the annual Farm Science Review. Members participated in workshops that taught lineman safety and grain bin safety. They also interacted with business and industry professionals, as well as exploring the new and improved technology within agriculture. | Ohio Legislative Leadership ConferenceEarly September 28, 5 FFA members headed to the Ohio State House to engage in the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference. Here, they would partake in workshops on lobbying, advocacy, and policy through the Ohio Farm Bureau. Ohio Bird Sanctuary Field Trip The Environmental class took a field trip to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary to learn about birds of prey that have been on the brink of extinction and are now thriving. They were able to see up close the Peregrine Falcon, American Kestrels, and a Barn Owl as well as Bald Eagles and Vultures. | Ohio Bird Sanctuary Aviary The students have been learning about the conservation of birds and have done several activities to increase a species in our area, the Bluebird. Activities included collecting data on the bluebird houses put out last year as well as cleaning them out for next spring, and building more Bluebird houses that will be added to the trail. | Environmental Science Bluebird Houses Last years Environmental class made Bluebird houses and put them up to start the Bluebird trail.The trail starts behind the Tomorrow center. This years Environmental class went out to collect data and clean out the houses. Of the eleven houses put up last spring, four had our target species nests, Bluebird or Tree Swallows and the others had Sparrow nests. |

Athletic Campaign
Mornings are noticeably colder and the days are growing shorter which can only mean one thing; Fall sport athletes are ready for the postseason. So grab a cup of coffee, or a hot chocolate, and come out to see our Fall athletes as their hard work and dedication pays off.
- The Boys Golf Team of Brad West, Silas Horton, Carter Ramoneda, Lane Hughes and Logan Reynolds all braved the cold and rain as they competed in the OHSAA sectional tournament last week. Although we did not have any individual qualifiers for Districts, they all posted solid scores.
- Miranda Kintz competed as an individual in the OHSAA Girl Golf Championship. Miranda is only a Freshman so she will have a few more years to help grow the sports at CLHS. If you are interested in joining Miranda on the girls golf team, you can get information from the Athletic Office
- Volleyball won their second consecutive KMAC Championship Thursday night by beating Centerburg 3-1. They will host Mount Gilead Tuesday before entering tournament play.
- Cross Country had a solid showing at the Crestline Invitational Tuesday with seven runners posted season or personal best times. They will run at Marion Harding this Saturday before rounding out the regular season in the KMAC Championships.
- Football looks to turn the ship around as they play their final home game Friday and then travel to Fredericktown and Mount Gilead to round out the season.

Guidance News
Permission slips will be forthcoming and we will need to have slips signed and returned by Friday, November 4th. Full or half payment is also due at this time.
Seniors and parents/guardians of seniors, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Both student and one parent/guardian are required to have an FSA ID prior to starting the FAFSA. Please refer to the Google classroom for directions and links and if needed, please reach out to guidance to schedule an appointment.
Many colleges will have priority deadlines in early November (typically November 1st) which put you in consideration for scholarships and other financial aid opportunities at the school. Stop by guidance for assistance with your college application(s).
Big Brothers Big Sisters:
BBBS is still looking for a few more "Bigs". If you want to be a mentor and create a positive influence in younger students of Cardington, please scan the QR code on the flyers posted in the Google classroom and around the building.
Tri-Rivers will be visiting out campus on 10/18/22 to share their learning opportunities for our 10th grade students. There are over 15 career pathway opportunities.
