Assistant Principal Academy
Leonard Guyton and Jim Rehberg attended the second session of the Assistant Principal Academy at Cairo High School last week. The topic was Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and was presented by Dr. Mark Wilson.
Participants looked at three questions: As the principal/assistant principal:
1) What are your processes, protocols, and strategies to insist on high expectations for all of your students? What does that look like? How do you monitor?
2) How do you organize yourself, your resources, and others to achieve this?
3) How are you, as the instructional leader, supporting this effort? What works in getting your teachers to embrace a continual process of implementing innovating classroom practices?

PSAT, SAT and Khan Academy
The workshop was conducted by Mrs. Lynn Demmons, College Board Senior Director for K-12 Services, and highlighted the free resources available to our students through the Khan Academy along with changes to the SAT and PSAT exams.
Lauren Delay, Josh Niswonger, Tammy Shealey, Richard Gainey, Lindsay Thompson, Jim Rehberg, and Deann Garcia attended the class. Afterwards, a working lunch was held at the Bistro in downtown Camilla to discuss implications for our instruction, implementation, and next steps.
Khan Academy Student Accounts
This Friday, September 30th, Mrs. Thompson will be working on A Hall to help all students set up Khan Academy accounts during their English class.
Any student who took the PSAT/NMSQT or the PSAT 8/9 in the fall of 2015 can link those scores in their College Board account to an account in Khan Academy, free of charge, to practice for the SAT or ACT or strengthen skills.
This gives each student a personalized SAT experience based on their strengths and weaknesses as indicated by their performance on the previous test.
As a result, students will be able to see tailored practice recommendations of skills, practice anytime, anywhere, at no cost, plus, have access to four FREE official practice exams from College Board.
Important Testing Information!
We will host the first SAT exam on Saturday, November 5th.
