School Expectations and Volunteers
- We are now a full month into school and we're starting to find a real groove. We have been working hard to instill our school's expectations in all of our students. Those expectations are to be safe, prepared, respectful, and responsible. Each staff member has been trained and has practiced helping students meet those expectations. Feel free to ask your students about the expectations and what they look like in our school. We strive to build well-rounded students here at OPA so each student may become a leader in their own life.
- Also, we are looking for parent volunteers at OPA. Please fill out the form below if at all interested. We look forward to having you at our school!

Regular attendance is crucial for success in elementary school.
Help your child succeed in school. Make sure your child is in school every day!
Absences add up. Even if your child missed just a few days here and there, his/her grades are likely to suffer. According to research, missing two days a month negatively affects a student's academic performance.
Elementary attendance affects reading. Frequent absences in elementary school have been shown to significantly affect a student’s reading skills.
Elementary attendance problems can negatively impact your student's future. Research shows that by sixth grade, attendance problems become a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
Attendance affects social growth. Elementary students are still learning social and emotional skills that will help them throughout their lives. At school, they learn to interact with others, make friends, and build relationships with adults outside their family.
These tips will help ensure that your child is in school every day…
Develop routines. Get everything your child needs for school ready the night before. Set out (or have your child set out). Clothes, shoes, socks, coat, and backpack, etc). Also, make sure that your child goes to bed early enough to get a good night’s sleep, and gets up in time to have a good breakfast or arrive at school on time to be able to have it there.
Get Support. If you have difficulty getting your child to and from school, or if your child doesn’ seem to want to go to school for any reason, talk to your child’s teacher, counselor or administrator. We will work together to resolve whatever issue is having a negative impact on your child’s attendance.
Be informed. Know bell's and schedules times. Determine what time your child needs to be “out the door” to get to school on time.
