Tucker's Sandlot
Thank you to Dana O'Brien, staff volunteers, coaches, and other helpers who assisted with the Tucker's Sandlot event last week. What a turnout! Thank you to everyone who helped generate the enthusiasm among our students. I'm hopeful this will carry over into the summer for many of the participants.
Growing Gatewood Readers
I'm excited for this Thursday's "Growing Gatewood Readers" event. There will be many fun activities and great school-family connections to share. Thank you for your planning, organizing, and support for this event.
March 20 Professional Development
During our March 20, 2019, professional development time, we will review current strategies of our School-wide Title I plan, share ideas and suggestions that came from the recent data meetings, and consider ways to enhance next year's plan. I will also share my message of, "Why I Am a Champion of the Underdog."
Staffing Update
At the recent district staffing meetings, we have been learning about the bigger district picture as it applies to the overall district budget, changes in departments and services that impact staffing (like the revamped Teaching & Learning Department), and shared curricular areas like music, art, and phy ed. At the April 3, 2019, staffing meeting we will begin to look at the staffing model for elementary schools that will used this year and what the allocations for Gatewood will be. I'm looking to find a day in April that I can share the staffing picture for Gatewood for next year.
Spring Break
I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing Spring Break and you get to connect with friends and family members. I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, April 1, 209.
