An Update From The Bear Den

Hello Parents,

It is a very busy and important week at Danville Elementary. Students in grades 3 - 6 will be taking the Iowa Statewide Assessments of Student Progress (ISASP). While this test is a standardized test, it is very different from the standardized tests that you may have taken in school.

The students will be taking the test on the computer and will be tested in Reading, Language Arts & Writing, and Math. Students in 5th grade will also take the Science test. Students will be testing each morning Monday through Wednesday this week. In addition, our 5th graders will test on Friday morning. Students that are absent for one or more of the ISASP sessions, will make up their assessment(s) on Friday morning.

At Danville Elementary we will use the assessment results to make curricular decisions and see where changes need to made in instruction to address the needs of all Danville students. We encourage you to speak to your child about doing his/her best on these tests in order to assist the district in making educational decisions. Thank you!

4 Year Old Preschool Openings

Do you have friends or family looking for Preschool opportunities for their child for the 2021-2022 school year? Danville Elementary still has openings in our 4 Year Old Preschool classes for next year. Danville does not charge a monthly tuition for our Preschool classes, just a one time $45 access fee. Our morning and afternoon sessions make the schedule very flexible for parents. In addition, students DO NOT have to live in the Danville School District to attend and parents do not have to complete Open Enrollment papers if you live out of the district. This is a wonderful opportunity for all 4 year old children to gain exposure to school and learn many basic reading and math skills. Contact Alice in the Elementary Office at 319-392-4221 with questions or to hold your child's spot in next year's classes. Prospective students and parents can also attend the Preschool Open House Night on Thursday, May 6th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for an opportunity to visit the Preschool classrooms.
