Weekly Update December 07-11, 2020
Hello Woods Lake Family,
Thank you for getting your child online and ready to learn daily! The additional teacher-student time is proving to be of great support. Your child is able to attend specials at the start of the school day and log on to the google classroom by 9:30 a.m. to attend 70 minutes of synchronous learning with the homeroom teacher.
Your child should attend a small group in the afternoon and complete a lesson in both Lexia (Reading) and Dreambox (Math) daily. Thank you for your continued support! This is a shorter month as we will be on winter break from December 21st to January 3rd. Each day of learning counts! Let's continue to work together for the success of your child.
Our monthly virtual PTO meetings are held on the third Monday of each month from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. This month, our virtual PTO meeting will be on Monday, December 14, 2020. We look forward to seeing you there!

Why Is Social Justice Important?
Social justice promotes fairness and equity across many aspects of society. For example, it promotes equal economic, educational and workplace opportunities. It's also important to the safety and security of individuals and communities.
Kalamazoo Kids in Tune (KKIT)
- We will have another Netflix watch party over winter break. Stay tuned for specific date/time! We will be featured in the upcoming KSO virtual concert: Sounds of the Season. It will air and be available to live stream on Dec. 20th!
- New Support Initiative: We have started a Family Resource Hub for all of our KKIT families. All KKIT families received care packages over Thanksgiving Break with some snacks, masks, cards from staff!
- New Academic Support: We will be hosting weekly homework help / virtual study hall sessions. We will meet with our students over zoom to provide additional support. Families received a call to confirm interest levels.
- Now Enrolling: We are enrolling students for our second trimester.
