Bulldog Bulletin

New Britton Elementary - November 13, 2015

Principal's Message

Dear Bulldog Families,

We had an outstanding turnout for our Veterans Day programs! We would like to again thank our veterans and active servicemen and women. We were fortunate to have Master Sergeant Chris Morlan as a guest speaker. We have a special connection with Master Sergeant Morlan as his wife is in the final phase of student teaching in third grade at New Britton with Mrs. Biggs. He spoke to us about the significance of Veterans Day, the symbolism and importance of our flag, and different ways we can thank veterans. If your student would be interested in writing a thank you note to a veteran, he shared the following website that contains information regarding how to go about doing this: http://www.amillionthanks.org/.

We would like to give a special thank you to our student performers and Mrs. Jackson, Mr. Martin, and Mrs. Wood for preparing our students for the music and dance portions of the programs. Sincerest thanks to Mrs. McGee for coordinating our Wall of Honor. Our own Cub Scout Pack #106 was given a real-life opportunity to practice the posting and retiring of the colors; what a great experience for them! I encourage you to take a moment to ask your student more about this special day of recognition.

As always, thank you for partnering with us in education. Have an enjoyable weekend!

Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation

Support the Foundation with Giving Tuesday!

As per NBE Handbook, page 15: The school cannot allow parents or students to return to the classrooms before or after school hours to get items they may have forgotten. We want to encourage student responsibility and organization, and we also need to maintain building security. For security reasons, classrooms are locked after school.

A Message from our students....

"Hi. This is Ava, Cory, and Teryrone from Mr. Temple's class. We need your help. Our class asked how we could help our community be a better place so kids can have a happier life. We are doing a toy drive for Riley's Hospital and kids who don't have toys. New Britton kids can help by donating toys they don't play with anymore. Bring the toys to school in a bag marked DONATION and place the bag of toys in the donation boxes by the library. We are collecting donations until Thanksgiving. We want to make kids feel better so please bring in toys!"

Food Drive

New Britton students and families are being asked to donate non-perishable food items for our annual Hamilton Country Red Cross Food Drive. Students are being encouraged to bring in their donations to their classrooms Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 20th. This Student Council Project has been a huge success in the past. Thanks for being a part of it!
