Quest Overview
- In this quest, you will learn about Danielson component 2B.
- You will read about the Danielson component 2B (understanding what it is, why it is important, what the elements are embedded within the component, and ways you can show it in your digital portfolio).
- The explore part of this quest you will complete a write up for Component 2B in your digital portfolio. To document your learning, you will take a screenshot of your write up in your digital portfolio and upload it to My GCC.

What is Component 2B?
- Research has shown that classrooms that supports a culture of life long learning (including the teacher) everyone benefits.
- Students and teacher both takes pride and ownership of work, and gives 100%.
Why do we need to know about component 2B?
- Component 2B is important, because:
- We need to have an atmosphere that is created by both the teacher and the student.
- A classroom environment must reflect work that is valued by teacher and student.
- Students need to participate in the class, set high expectations for themselves, and value the content being taught in the classroom.
- Students take pride in their work and do their best on assignments.
Elements
Importance of content and of learning
- Students are actively involved in learning the content.
- Students take initiative in learning and want to learn more about a topic or content area.
- Teacher takes advantage of those teachable moments.
- Teacher has a concluding point for the end of the lesson, and guides students to that point.
Expectations for learning & achievement
- High expectations are provided for students to follow.
- Due to these high expectations in the classroom, students have internalized them.
- Teacher conveys a message to the students through interactions and written that they are all capable of being challenged and to work hard.
Student pride in work
- Students are attentive and show detail and thought throughout their work.
- Students thoughtfully revise and rework their assignments so it reflects the best work possible.

- Teacher encourages higher order thinking skills during a lesson.
