Have You Seen These Signs?
Greetings Twelve Bridges Elementary Families,
Did you know that for the past two years, Twelve Bridges Elementary has been extremely fortunate to have two people who have committed themselves to making our school more beautiful? Before I came on as principal, I had heard a few brief stories of a lady who comes in and weeds the flower gardens near the parking lot. This was quite an understatement! All of the old, overgrown brush had been hauled away and the flower beds and landscaping surrounding the front of the school and parking lot had been re-landscaped with flowers, shrubs, and new bark. This summer, they also took the initiative to repaint the benches and picnic tables throughout campus.
Cathleen and Ed Hulbert are proud citizens of the Twelve Bridges community with no direct ties to the school. They believe that a great community looks out for each other and values their neighborhood school. The Hulberts have done so much to help the school look amazing! Their story to help doesn't stop there. The Hulberts have taken on the initiative to lead a community effort to help maintain the grounds throughout our campus. So many of you have responded with your time and effort to adopt a piece of the campus to care for. I'm sure most of you have noticed the little signs popping up around campus. We have around 50 families who have "stepped up" to help. The outpouring of support has been tremendous! Every space that was available has been spoken for. Cathleen and I spoke recently and there will be more locations available soon. For more information, you can follow Cathleen's Facebook page, "Friends of 12 Bridges Elementary School"
I want to thank the Hulberts and all of the families that have helped make Twelve Bridges Elementary a beautiful place for our students, staff, and families. Not only do your combined efforts help make the school look better, the message that it sends to our students and community is priceless. Our students will know that their community values their school. Our students can learn compassion, kindness, and the value of helping others through service projects. You are all setting the perfect example for your children and neighbors.
With appreciation and gratitude,
Mr. Middleton
