General
RISD will fly you to San Antonio for the convention on Wednesday, February 12th. Your absences for Wednesday-Friday will be excused, but you will need to let your teachers know in advance so deadlines for make up work and tests are clear. You will return to Richardson on Saturday with your parents. No transportation will be provided.
We will check you in on Tuesday and print your boarding pass. You will need to pack weather appropriate clothing, your choir/band formal/shoes, music, pencil, forms and your instrument.
MEN – remember bowtie/cummerbund/BLACK socks/dress shoes. WOMEN- dress and shoes
Don't forget a black binder for your music!
RISD will give you $60 for food, but don’t expect that it will completely cover what you need. The district has made (and paid for) your flight reservation and your hotel reservation in downtown San Antonio. You will be staying in the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk.

Concerts
On Saturday, February 16th, The All-State Mixed Choir will perform at 12:30-1:45pm, the All-State Women’s Choir will be at 4:00-4:50pm and the All-State Men’s Choir will sing at 5:30pm-6:20.
All Choir concerts will be in the San Antonio Convention Center in the Stars at Night Ballroom. The band audition and placement on Wednesday will determine the time of your All-State Band concert. I know your parents will not want to miss your concert.
Please let us know your parent’s travel plans. If they plan on staying the night, they will want to make reservations as soon as possible as hotel rooms are in high demand with such a large convention. Your hotel room is reserved through Saturday night for choir (to allow for choir students to have a place to dress for the later concerts). Parents, please note that parking in downtown San Antonio on a Saturday is insane! Plan to arrive downtown at least an hour and a half of your child’s concert time.
Required Paperwork
As we draw near to the convention, there are some important details that you need to accomplish before you leave for the convention on February 12th. There are forms you MUST download, complete and turn in at All-State Registration in San Antonio. Each student has already received their All-State ID and Security Code but please let me know if you need these numbers.
You will need them to download and print the necessary forms HERE
Please notice that the Medical Release form must be notarized and the Code of Conduct will need the signature of your director. You MUST bring your completed Medical Release and Code of Conduct with you to the TMEA convention in order for you to participate in an All-State Choir/Band. Please be responsible about getting this task completed well before you leave for TMEA. Also, read through the information provided by TMEA about the concert times and how to order CDs, DVDs, etc.
That information can also be found at the link above. Be sure the concert tickets you received are with your parents. They will need to bring them in order to attend the concert.
Once again, we are so proud of your achievement! Making the All-State Choir, Band or Orchestra means you are in the top 1% of musicians who started the process in the fall! Congratulations! I know you will have the experience of a lifetime at TMEA.
