Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter
May 26, 2020
Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents
I still cannot believe this is the first week of students' summer break! However, during this time, I hope students will continue to be creative, develop new ideas, read a book they love, and honestly, just be a kid. While students are enjoying these precious moments, we will be working to prepare for next year- 2020-2021 MUST be a great one!
I would like to thank Mrs. Garza, Mrs.Mason and the entire promotion committee for planning last Thursday's promotion ceremony parade. I have no words to describe how proud I felt as I watched our students embrace a new norm and the smiles on their faces were priceless! Thank you parents for your support in making this moment special. For those who were unable to witness this event, here is the link for your viewing: Promotion Ceremony Parade 2020. Enjoy!
Please see below for final campus announcements. Thank you all for being amazing!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Allen

Student Material Pick Up
A second opportunity to pick up student materials will be Monday, June 1. Pick up will begin at 7:30am and will end at 9:30AM. Please plan to pick up your student belongings then. If you are unable to do so, please reach out to me by this Wednesday so that I can work with you to ensure we are able to return your students belongings. Items not picked up will be donated or recycled for next school year.
Library Book Return
There are about 600 library books still out. Our books (library and literacy library) are the hub of our school. Please check to see if your student has a book that needs to be returned. Mrs. Reeb will also be at the material returns on June 1st to collect these.
Retiring and Non Returning Teachers
As we close this school year, we are so very sad to say farewell Mrs. Kathy Prichard (4th Grade) and Ms. Jo Williams (TAG) who will be retiring.
We also say goodbye to Mrs. Yvette Munoz (Special Education) who has accepted a job closer to home.
It has been an honor to have worked with each of them and they will be truly missed!

How Will the 2020-2021 School Year Begin?
I know there are many questions regarding the 2020-2021 school year. I encourage you to read the Superintendent Update: Plan for Summer and Fall. Although we don't know what the future holds, I feel confident that the leaders of our district are working to be prepared to serve our students in August. In the past I have not shared newsletters over the summer, but you can expect to receive newsletters from me this summer in the event I need to communicate important updates.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email with questions or concerns.
