Cougar Courier

Greetings from Dr. Garcia!

January 18, 2020

We are halfway through January and winter is officially here! I have provided information about eLearning days in the Courier.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 22nd. We will be hosting a meet and greet to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Kenard Robinson. The gathering will take place in the library from 4:45-6:00 pm. We hope you are able to attend!

Are you interested in learning more about the French Immersion Program coming in fall 2020? If so, please plan on attending informational parent meetings on Tuesday, January 28th and Thursday, February 20th at 5:30 pm.. The French Immersion Program is being offered to scholars entering kindergarten and 1st grade. Applications can be submitted at the Central Administration building.

Dress Down Day Info:

We will be having a dress down day on Friday, January 24th to support student council. Scholars can participate in dress down days by paying $1 and adhering to the dress code requirements. Dress down days will always be communicated through the building administration. Scholars who come to school out of uniform on a non-dress down day will be required to call for a change of clothing.

Scholars are not allowed to wear slides, slippers, sandals, or flip-flops. No pants with large rips/holes, no pajamas, no midriff tops or see-through tops/bottoms. No tank tops or sleeveless shirts. No shorts during quarter three.

Technology Reminders:

Scholars should not have their phones out during instruction and cell phones should be secured in their lockers. The expectation for communicating with your scholars is to call the office.

Chromebooks are used daily for instruction. Please remind scholars in 6th-8th grade to charge their Chromebooks daily and to only use Chromebooks for school approved activities.

Family Autism Presentation:

Join SBCSC Autism Consultants for a Free Family Autism Presentation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on January 28 in Charger Hall at Edison Middle School, 2701 Eisenhower Dr. Representatives from Insource will be there to let parents know what resources they have available and a case manager from Advocacy Links will discuss the Medicaid waiver process.
